Following the huge success of the 2016 Bradford Sports Awards, we were challenged to run yet another successful event, working closely with Active Bradford and the awards main sponsor, Provident Financial. The Bradford Sports Awards is an annual event to celebrate the efforts and achievements of the sporting community across the district.
Once again, our role involved everything from attracting sponsors for the event, script writing for host Tanya Arnold, organising audio visual for the evening, managing the Active Bradford Twitter feed, designing, building and sending email campaigns, managing the nomination process plus designing and producing all print material for the event.
The first challenge was updating the brand identity for the 2017 event, creating a fresh new look and feel whilst also ensuring the symbolic coil was still featured from the Active Bradford identity. To acknowledge the huge success of our Team GB athletes in last year’s Rio Olympics, we included a medal in the new 2017 logo. The identity was then rolled out across the suite of awards collateral, including pre-event posters and leaflets to help boost all important nominations and ticket sales for the event. We put in place a digital marketing strategy including emails to the Bradford Sports Awards database, promotion of ticket sales and nominations on the Active Bradford website and managing all social media content, ultimately helping to lift the nominations to 210 and boost ticket sales to over 400! For the event itself, we produced the stage branding, trophies, table plans and the 42-page event programme showcasing the finalists of the evening, sponsor adverts and on-going initiatives of Active Bradford.
We also created 2 videos for the evening, exhibiting the amazing achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers across the Bradford district, and also looking ahead at the sporting events coming up in 2017.
The event was a great success, with over 400 attendees including the likes of Active Bradford Chair, Wayne Jacobs, Bradford City Manager Stuart McCall, Bradford Council Chief Executive Kersten England, Boxer Mohammad Ali, Bradford Bulls Player Leon Pryce, and hosted by Tanya Arnold who said of the event:
