Banana Kick and Leeds Bid were finalists and placed bronze for the Tourism Event category at the White Rose Awards for the Leeds Jurassic Trail.
Set up in 2010, The White Rose Awards are the industry tourism awards for Yorkshire and are the biggest awards celebration of its kind in the UK. The awards represent the ‘best and brightest Yorkshire has to offer’.
The ‘Tourism Event Award’ category recognises Events and Festivals that provide “truly memorable visitor experiences and demonstrating excellence across every aspect of the business.” The judges were looking for evidence of innovation and distinctiveness and an event that contributes to the Yorkshire brand and legacy.
Our entry was the Leeds Jurassic Trail. The trail consisted of 5 dinosaurs situated in Trinity, Trinity Kitchen, Kirkgate Market, Victoria Gate and Merrion Centre. In addition to the fixed dinosaurs, we also had a roaming dinosaur visiting various locations in the UK.
The trail was in place for just over 6 weeks and estimated it attracted 300,000 people.

We were due to run a bigger Leeds Jurassic Trail 2 this Summer but, unfortunately, due to COVID, this could not take place. Nevertheless, in 2021 the Leeds Jurassic Trail will be coming back bigger and better.
Congratulations to all the other finalists and thank you to Welcome to Yorkshire and the White Rose Awards for the recognition.
