The Super League asked us to deliver a fun day experience for fans to celebrate the launch of the 2016 season for both the Super League and Championship teams. This daytime event would complement their evening event of the ‘Rugby League Rocks’ concert.
We positioned the event as the ‘ultimate rugby league day out’. Our strategy was to create an engaging fan experience, which was suitable for all ages.
The day included face painting, inflatables, mascots, games, dancers, a cheerleading flash mob and guest hosts on stage conducting player Q&A sessions. Fans also had the opportunity to meet their favourite players, who signed autographs and took photos on the red carpet.
For the sporty audience, we delivered bespoke games – one a prize giveaway and the other a coconut shy-type rugby challenge. The games saw high levels of interaction from the crowd, with more than 247 entries for the giveaway alone.
We created all the branding for the daytime event including pre-event promotion posters, social media assets, autograph cards, stage branding, screen branding and a sponsor backdrop.
Behind the scenes, we liaised closely with the venue, partners and suppliers, and technicians to ensure efficient and safe running on the day, taking care of all risk assessments and health and safety documentation.
We also added a digital offering of an interactive screen, which screened rugby league classic moments, sponsor ads and a Twitter wall, which pulled through fans’ tweets. Throughout the day, we had over 1250 tweets on the wall and 2510 impressions on the page itself.
We’re really enjoying our ongoing relationship with the Rugby Football League/Super League, which started with the event management of the Olympic Park fan park, and are already looking forward to the next event at Magic Weekend in May!
