On Tuesday night sporting stars from across Leeds were recognised for their achievements at a glitzy ceremony at the first direct arena for this year’s Leeds Sports Awards.
We joined forces once again with Leeds City Council to event manage the biggest ceremony yet, with over 750 people attending the Awards for the 14th annual event.
Now in our 7th year as creative and event partner for the Leeds Sports Awards, we’re extremely proud to see how the event has grown over the years, this year being particularly momentous with the move to a fantastic new venue.
Our role involves everything from securing sponsorship, refreshing the creative identity and all marketing collateral, managing the Leeds Sports Awards website, email campaigns and Sport Leeds Twitter, to overseeing the nomination process and all event management on the lead up to and on the night itself.
We were thrilled to celebrate the success of Leeds-based athletes, coaches, volunteers and administrators during 2016, from Olympians to the grass-roots heroes that make local sport happen.
The awards were backed by the LeedsBID as main sponsors of the event.
Sally Nickson, Chair of the Leeds Sports Awards organising committee, said: “The Leeds Sports Awards has now become one of the leading events in the Leeds sporting calendar. The move to the prestigious first direct arena was a fitting venue. We celebrated sporting achievement across the city. But this wasn’t just for top athletes and the stars of the future. It was also the coaches, administrators and volunteers who are so crucial to the success of sport across Leeds.
“The whole city can be rightly proud of its sporting success and to recognise these individuals who have dedicated so much of their lives to the sports they love was amazing and very moving for many too.”
Andrew Cooper, LeedsBID’s Chief Executive, said: “The Leeds Sports Awards was an incredible evening, celebrating Leeds as a fantastic city for sport. This year’s event was the culmination of the partnership between Sport Leeds and LeedsBID, which is funded by over 1,000 businesses and organisations in the city centre, working together to raise the level of the profile, status and position of the awards.”
After another successful event, we’re already looking forward to 2018!
