To launch the Leeds Sports Awards 2014 in style, we were joined yesterday by Jonny Bairstow, Yorkshire and England cricketer, recently selected for the Ashes squad, Martin Dickson, Marketing Director from the event’s title sponsor Leeds City College and previous recipients Josh Gardner, wheelchair rugby/basketballer and Craig Gilmore from The Hunslet Club.
After the success of last year’s event, Leeds Sports Awards is delighted to announce its return on Thursday 27th February 2014. The 2013 event saw a record number of over 500 attendees, with guests including the Lord Mayor of Leeds, the Brownlee brothers, Nicola Adams MBE and Hannah Cockroft MBE to name but a few. With some exciting plans and a new venue at New Dock Hall, 2014 promises to be yet another highly glamorous and exciting event.
Stewart Ross, Chairman of Sport Leeds, said: “Over the past two years we have built on the prestige of the event with Banana Kick’s help, and we look forward to delivering a successful 2014 event ahead of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.”
Nominations for the 2014 awards are now open, with categories ranging from Professional Club/Team of the Year to Junior Sportsperson of the year. Last year’s ceremony saw Alistair Brownlee and Nicola Adams take the headline awards, winning Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year respectively, but who will take the title this year?
Make sure you head to the website and nominate who you feel deserves to be recognised for their sporting achievements in 2013.
