BK lands ‘GeM’ of an account

THE need to buy more efficiently has affected all businesses and the public sector is no different. Government initiatives are already underway to help address this, one such being GeM, a new branded online procurement site for Higher and Further Education.

GeM stands for Generic ‘E’ Marketplace, an online portal where the best negotiated prices on commodities such as stationery, office furniture, utilities contracts and more for the Education sector are available from one central source.

Banana Kick has developed the new GeM brand and visual identity, which will be used across a variety of on and offline media. Lee Grasby of Banana Kick commented, “We’re proud to be working on what will become such an influential product for the Higher and Further Education sector”.

The platform is already in testing with a planned live launch of this August. It is estimated that GeM will have a throughput in excess of £500m within the first five years.
