Ronald apparently doesn’t drink latte

So it looks like Ronald McDonald is finally being retired. The clown will no doubt don his comfy slippers, light up his pipe and look back on a job well done.

For many years, he’s been the ‘friendly face’ of the American brand. Bright colours and a big smile represented the values of the restaurant, appealing to familes for the fun and happiness to be had by those who chomped on the burgers and slurped the shakes. But the world is a different place now. We’re much more health conscious, have quicker changing tastes, and our heroes are pop stars, not clowns. Many people won’t even notice he’s gone. McDonalds has carefully planned its shift to healthier living and café style formats in an almost unnoticeable manner, making sure we’re all ‘lovin it’. Or are we?…
