What a weekend of great sport! England took on France in the Six Nations, the Carling Cup Final at Wembley, and one of the most entertaining Cricket World Cup matches you will ever see!
Media coverage of all these great events is bigger and better than ever, but what really makes it special to the spectator who is watching from their armchair? There is no doubt that Sky have brought a new level of entertainment to the home viewer, but my two memories of this weekend will be from the good old BBC. The coverage of England vs France on Saturday was absolutely first class. Great camera angles, a no frills approach to the key points in the game, and fantastic patriotic commentary from Brian Moore. Add to this, the hugely knowledgeable but dry commentary from the TMS team for the cricket on Sunday and all of a sudden that license fee doesn’t look such bad value after all.
